Learn More about Indiana Birds

There is no better way to learn and discover the amazing variety of wildlife surrounding you, than beginning to track what is in your backyard or neighborhood. Below is "Field Checklist of the Birds of Indiana" you can download, which will help you track the birds you find.

Compiled by Dr. Ronald A. Weiss from the Chipper Woods Bird Observatory in Indianapolis, he has categorized birds in over 20 groups in accord with the 7th American Ornithologists Union Check-list. An asterisk next to the name of the bird indicates breeding species that are state endangered, threatened, or of special concern.

This checklist also notes if the bird can be found in spring, summer, fall or winter.
